Tenacious visits Dartmouth

(Sorry Pete, more boats again!) Yesterday the Jubilee Sailing Trust's ship 'Tenacious' sailed into Dartmouth. Hannah (elder dottir) was most excited when we told her as she works for this charity - although I would have thought she should have know where her ships were! Anyway, she looked magnificent swinging to her mooring and later on tied up alongside the Town Jetty.

Camping on Jireh

Ha! My diary has show a possibility for me to take Jireh up river and test out the tent - with a view to taking the girls on a boys-own adventure this summer! Well, everything worked well. The tent is a bit drafty, but there is most certainly camping potential there. On my sail back down to Dartmouth next morning, I met Mick Blakey, a colleague from the Harbour Authority (and also a fellow ex-Rm Bandsman), and as I haven't got any pictures of Jireh sailing, he kindly took a few shots for me.

New Higher Ferry

Dartmouth received its long-awaited new floating bridge this week, otherwise known as 'The Higher Ferry' (we also have a 'Lower Ferry' you know). This monster can carry up to 32 cars instead of the measly 18 that the old ferry carried, and it has a crossing time of just 3 minutes. Life is never dull in Dartmouth!

Weston Super Mare

We recently camped at Weston Super Mare to reduce our journey time to Bristol each day as Lydia had a week full of iGCSE exams. Travelling back to the campsite one day Lydia and I were musing over what the 'Super' in Weston Super Mare meant. We found out that it means 'next to' or 'alongside'; so the full name is Weston beside the sea! How interesting.
A mini heat wave was soon replaced by normal camping weather, but we were able to make a bit of a holiday out of it all. A few piccies from the week below.
