Bluebells Walk - 17th May 2025

Well, our bluebell walk turned out to be a walk with a friend as most of those booked on had to cancel at the last minute.

This turned out to be advantageous for me as the my sole companion Alan, was able to give me some tips on how to get a good photo.  Added to this, his knowledge of birds is light years better than mine, so we spent much of the walk bird spotting.  Thanks Alan.

A lovely day for a walk with flowers galore, birds galore, and great company.

Inga Tor and Leeden Tor Railway Walk

After a spell of fine but coldish weather, the day of our walk had a forecast for rain.  Would it come before we finished the walk or as forecast during our walk?  We mostly stayed dry!

None of us set out to pick up the railway path near Inga Tor, following this disused track around to Swelter =where Simon enlightened us with many tales and facts en route.  Lunch was taken at the corbels and we continued our walk around King's Tor and took the link back down to our outward path.

Branching up to Leeden Tor was our only real climb of the day, and back at the car park a Willies Ice Cream van made a welcome conclusion to this lovely walk in excellent company and in God's wonderful world!

Burrator Reservoir Circular - 18 Jan 2025

It was a chilly wind that met us when we arrived at Burrator Quarry car park.  There were just the four of us booked on this walk, but to our delight, two more joined us in the car park.

A gentle incline took us to the highest point of Yennadon Down, giving us lovely views across the Reservoir.  A bit of road walking took us down to Devonport Leat and into the wooded tracks that took us first to Leather Tor Farm remains and then down the Leather Tor Bridge over the Heavy Riven--where lunch was taken.

Descending to Norsworthy Bridge, we then followed the road around to take a track up to a path that skirts Sheep's Tor.  Crossing both dams, we found the famously delicious ice cream - Willy's (thanks for your recommendation Margaret).

And so back to the car park.

A lovely walk with some new faces and a delightful day out in God's wonderful creation.
